dude - that would drive me nuts, not that i'm the world's biggest drinker - but dry towns - ugh. thank god all the dry towns around here are disappearing.
but of course, there are liquor stores in other towns ;)
Yeah, it's really weird. I'm not a big drinker either, but ever since I got to Texas, all I can think about is going to a pool hall and having a beer...and I fucking can't. But I guess that's what visits home to Florida are for.
Of course, there's Dallas, but I'd get lost for and hour trying to find the place and then I'd still have to drive home, so it really wouldn't work out for a night out.
What does "image stabilizer" technology actually do though? Does it allow for slower shutter speeds without shake, or is is just digital trickery that simulates such things?
Two shake-detecting sensors, one each for yaw and pitch, are used to detect lens movement. The shake-detecting sensors detect the angle and speed of movement and send this information to a high-speed 32-bit microcomputer. The microcomputer then converts the detection signals into drive signals for the IS lens group. In accordance with the drive signals, the IS lens group actuator moves the IS lens group and thus counteracting the image shake and maintaining a stable picture.
It was raining today before I had to leave for work but I was able to fire off a few shots of the rotting ice cream truck that's parked out in front of my place:
Believe it or not, that was shot in jpg. I didn't have enough space on my memory to shoot RAW because I had a bunch of pictures left on the card that I hadn't cleared.
I can't wait to see what I can come up with in RAW. I'm doing happy dances all over the place.
I know! I was all feeling it up at the store going "Oooo...you're coming home with me..." and the dude that worked there came up and was all "Uh, can I help you ma'am?"
Fucking gorgeous. I'm jealous. I really want to trade in my 20D for a 30D and pay the difference.. but shit, I'm trying to pay off my current bills as is!
